This year, through an existing, McDonald’s partnership with the NFL, McDonald's hosted a youth community event with the help of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and 100 Black Men both of Houston. On Saturday, January 28th and Sunday, January 29th, 2017 McDonald’s, brought local youth ages 7-15 to the McDonald’s Touchdown event at NFL Experience Driven by Genesis in Houston, TX.
The 2017 NFL Experience at George R. Brown Convention Center is a weeklong event with an indoor theme park filled with football clinics, interactive games, player signings, NFL merchandise, and everything else an American Football aficionado could imagine.
During their time enjoying NFL Experience, the Jr. superstars participated in private clinics with Miami Dolphins, Xavien Howard and Houston Texan, Devon Still. The clinic, part of The NFL’s Play60 Zone consisted of Punt, Pass & Kick, 3 Cone Drills, and a Play 60 Zone. The youth ended their day with a private player signing by Texans; Corey Moore, Whitney Mercilus, and Wendal Williams, Saturday and the Texans; Braxon Miller, Jadaveon Cowney, and Jay Prosche on Sunday. Thanks to McDonald’s, a total of 453 local children were able to participate in the 2017 NFL Experience.
McDonald’s would like to thank the Black McDonald’s Operators Association of Houston for providing meals. McDonald’s would also like to thank the men of Omega Psi Phi and 100 Black Men for serving as chaperones.
