A Weekend Classic They Won’t Forget.
First the CIAA® Men’s and Women’s Tournament Champions cut down the nets. Then the CIAA Fan Experience and McDonald’s® Super Saturday brought down the house.
McDonald’s® joined the nation’s oldest African American athletic conference in Charlotte, NC in classic fashion celebrating 101 years of drive and passion. When the final whistle blew, the Bowie State Bulldogs and the Shaw Lady Bears were sitting on top as champions of the 2013 CIAA Tournament.
But it didn’t end there. The CIAA Fan Experience and McDonald’s Super Saturday took the crowd by storm on March 1st through 3rd with performance by SWV (Sisters with Voices), Whodini, and OMG Girlz. Even hometown favorite West Charlotte High School Marching Band rocked the house with an energetic showing. And the celebration wouldn’t be complete without one of music’s newest rising stars, Torion, who literally brought all the ladies to their feet.
All weekend, fans were able to enjoy a game of beanbag toss, join a dance competition, and indulge in 500 samples of McDonald’s Strawberry Crème Pie. The Fish McBites, McCafé Smoothie Variety, and Big Mac were also featured. Fans even got a taste of the McDonald’s® DJ Flavor Battle as DJ Bobby Drake backed up last year’s title with yet another win.
Students, alumni, along with everyone else caught every highlight as the tournament closed out a weekend for the ages.
