McCafé

We answer your questions about our McCafé coffees.

What are the McCafé coffees?

At McDonald’s McCafé, you can choose between several gourmet coffee choices: cappuccinos, lattés, and iced and hot mochas. They’re brewed with rich, bold espresso and made with real steamed milk, real chocolate and whipped cream. Take a look at how we make the McCafé Iced Mocha.

What country do you get the beans from to make coffee?

We searched the globe for exactly the right blends of gourmet coffee beans. Our Premium Roast coffee is a blend of Arabica coffee beans grown in Brazil and the mountains of Colombia, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Our McCafé specialty coffee blend comes from Brazil and the mountains of Sumatra, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Read the story about Gaviña Coffee, one of our coffee suppliers for more than 25 years.

How is the McCafé coffee different to your regular coffee?

The McCafé Espresso coffee beans come from Central and South America and the mountainous regions of Indonesia, while the Premium Drip Coffee blend comes from the mountains of Columbia, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Generally, the espresso is bolder, with a rich, roasted flavor and chocolatey notes, while the Premium blend is a little milder.

Why is your coffee so sweet?

You can have your coffee just the way you want it!  McCafé Specialty Coffees are completely customizable, so you can order them with sugar or syrup, or completely sugar free. If you’d like just a taste of sweetness, ask for just one shot of sugar or syrup. Your crew member will be happy to create a cup that’s perfect for you.

Why are the McCafé coffees so expensive?

If you look at similar gourmet coffees, and compare taste, size and price, we feel that McCafé specialty coffees offer convenience and wonderful quality at a great price!

What is the difference between a Latte and a Cappuccino?

A McDonald’s cappuccino is made with rich, dark-roast espresso coffee that is topped off with steamed milk, while the McCafé Latté consists of espresso coffee blended with steamed milk (and a flavored syrup if you want one), and topped with foamed milk. Take a look at how we make the McCafé Vanilla Latte.
