*ALERT* McDonald’s has recently received inquiries from concerned customers regarding unsolicited emails that appear to originate from McDonald’s offering coupons for free food in the form of an “.exe” or ".zip" attachment. THESE EMAILS CONTAIN A VIRUS THAT MAY BE HARMFUL TO YOUR COMPUTER AND ARE IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH McDONALD’S. DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENT TO THE EMAILS AND PERMANENTLY DELETE THEM FROM YOUR COMPUTER. While the emails have taken various forms, most originate from fake email addresses such as giveaway@mcdonalds.com or guest@mcdonalds.com with subject lines reading “McDonald’s Wishes you a Merry Christmas” or containing an offer for a free McDonald’s breakfast. We are investigating the source of these emails. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

While the e-mails have taken various forms, most appear to originate from e-mail addresses such as email:mcdonalds@stockpile-deals.com or freepromo@mcdonalds.com. These e-mails do not originate from, and are not affiliated with, McDonald's. We are currently investigating the source of these e-mails and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. |
