Our Community

Today, pursuant to our purpose of feeding and fostering communities, McDonald’s Qatar – a 100% locally owned and operated company – continues to prioritize its responsibility towards strengthening the foundation of the society in which we operate, and finding ways to serve bright futures, in addition to tasty food.

In 2022, McDonald’s Qatar received the ‘Responsible Leadership CSR Award’ for the third time from Qatar University’s CSR National Program in attendance of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, as well as high representation of government, academia, business, the diplomatic community, and NGOs. That recognition was a reward for our team’s past efforts and a reminder of the role we must continue to play in the coming days in our community.

Notable CSR and Community Initiatives

Previously, McDonald’s Qatar stood out with CSR initiatives and community work in 2021: ‘FIFA Arab CupTM Brand Activation Area’, ‘Give Thanks to Our Brave COVID-19 Front-Liners’, ‘Qatar Basketball Federation Sponsorship’, ‘Ramadan 2021 Qatar Charity Partnership’, and ‘Breast Cancer Awareness – Pink Five and Pink Walk’.

Some other ways in which we support our community include fostering youth sports, such as our ongoing sponsorship of Qatar Basketball Federation, or past support to community activities, including FIBA 3x3, badminton, bowling and billiard fests, and electric scooter clubs. We also mark international days to lend our support to the community—for example, all of our restaurant branches donated blood on World Blood Donor Day in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation. Furthermore, we

recognize the diversity of our Qatar-based workforce; in 2022, we had a 3-day all-female crew branch activation at our Town Center flagship restaurant on International Women’s Day.

We even regularly join our community in Qatar in celebrating cultural occasions, such as commemorating Garangao with children at KidZania Doha as well as partnering with Qatar Charity’s Tayf to collect in-kind donations from our 7 main flagship restaurants during the month of Ramadan.

Our CSR Program: Rahlatuna

The platform ’Rahlatuna’ – or ‘Our Journeys’ – serves as McDonald’s Qatar’s bold commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030’s “Human Development” pillar; additionally, it fulfils the company’s vision of giving back to the community as well as feeding as fostering communities. It engages the community’s youth, each of whom is on their unique journey to greatness, productively and positively through building their skills, broadening their vision, and rewarding their successes.

Most recently, through our partnership with Education Above All Foundation, we underscored our commitment to the idea, enshrined in Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030, that for true development to occur, a prosperous society should have access to quality education, especially for its deserving children. To this end, McDonald’s Qatar is supporting the foundation’s programs for the next two years, starting November 2022, through awareness-building, fundraising, and volunteering. This partnership comes as the first initiative under the new, bigger umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility for McDonald’s Qatar, ‘Rahlatuna’.
