McDonald's Saudi Arabia in the Western & Southern Region and Tabuk: A Commitment to Supporting and Empowering People with Disabilities in the Workforce

11-27-2024

Since 2021, McDonald’s Saudi Arabia has placed the empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities at the core of its priorities. Reflecting this commitment, the company has successfully employed over 50 Saudi men and women with disabilities across cities in the western and southern regions, including Tabuk, fostering their participation in the workforce and contributing to their professional growth.

To celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, McDonald’s held a special event in Jeddah to honor its employees with disabilities. The celebration brought together employees, their families, charitable organizations, and representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the Makkah region. During the event, McDonald’s recognized the achievements of its employees with disabilities and encouraged them to continue striving for success.

McDonald’s, through its coffee brand McCafé, is also proud to be the official sponsor of the National Games for the Special Olympics Saudi Aribia, which took place at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah from November 27 to 30, 2024. This sponsorship underscores the company’s dedication to showcasing the exceptional talents and abilities of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In addition, McDonald’s participated in sponsoring the “Empowering People with Disabilities” Forum, an initiative organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the Makkah region under the patronage of His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah. The forum highlighted strategies to support and empower people with disabilities in Saudi Arabia.

Through these initiatives, McDonald’s reaffirms its steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment that provides equal opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve their aspirations. These efforts are part of the company’s broader mission to promote solidarity, equality, and community empowerment.

Mohamed Alireza, Managing Director of Reza Food Services Co. Ltd., the official McDonald’s licensee in the Western and Southern Regions and Tabuk, commented:
"At McDonald’s Saudi Arabia, we deeply believe in the importance of supporting and empowering every member of our community, especially individuals with disabilities. This commitment is rooted in our responsibility to contribute positively to society. We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our employees with disabilities and remain dedicated to creating opportunities that allow everyone to realize their potential and build a brighter future together."
