McDonald’s Saudi Arabia was honored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for its success in providing over 36,000 training opportunities for Saudi youth through the Waad program.

26.10.2025

As part of its ongoing efforts to empower Saudi youth, McDonald’s participated in Waad, a national training initiative that recognizes private sector companies for their investment in Saudi talent.

The campaign aims to strengthen the national economy by offering effective training opportunities to develop the Saudi workforce in preparation for future demands, in collaboration with leading private sector institutions and with the support of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

Through its training and developing center, McDonald’s Academy, the company implemented a three-year training plan from the beginning of 2023 through the end of 2025, targeting 33,000 training opportunities in coordination with the Ministry. As of now, well before the 2025 deadline, McDonald’s has already provided over 36,000 training opportunities.

All training sessions, workshops, and development programs were conducted at McDonald’s Academy for Education and Training, based in the Arqa district of Riyadh. These programs offered high-level educational and professional training, significantly exceeding the original target agreed upon with the Ministry. Efforts are ongoing to provide even more training opportunities, contributing to the preparation of a national workforce capable of leading the country into the future.

McDonald’s Saudi Arabia was officially honored by His Excellency Ahmad bin Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development. The award plaque was presented to Prince Majed bin Fahad Al Saud, Co-Executive Director of Riyadh International Catering Corporation, the McDonald’s licensee for the Central, Eastern, and Northern regions of the Kingdom. The recognition reflects the company’s essential role in Waad and acknowledges its outstanding contribution in offering a large number of training opportunities to Saudi nationals.
