On February 5, 2024, McDonald's Saudi Arabia launched its annual charitable campaign titled "Your Support Completes Their Story" to aid children with Down syndrome. Under the theme "Your Support Completes Their Story," McDonald's Saudi Arabia initiated its annual charity campaign, selling four purposeful stories at 10 Saudi Riyals per story, with all proceeds earmarked to support children with Down syndrome. 200,000 stories were printed, targeted for sale across over 245 branches of McDonald's spread throughout the central, eastern, and northern regions of the Kingdom, aiming to raise 2 million Saudi Riyals in collaboration with three charitable associations.
The amounts raised from the story sales will be distributed by the end of this blessed Ramadan to benefit 313 children with Down syndrome through six programs as follows:
1. "McDonald's Program for Language and Functional Enhancement in collaboration with Duska Charitable Association" in Riyadh, with 867,669 Saudi Riyals allocated to support 87 children with Down syndrome. The mentioned programs aim to enhance language and speech capabilities to improve linguistic communication and develop living skills for children with Down syndrome.
2. "McDonald's Programs for Self-Help, Reading, and Writing in collaboration with Sawt Association" in Riyadh, with 754,210 Saudi Riyals allocated to support 146 children with Down syndrome. These programs aim to enable children to perform daily life tasks independently and enhance reading and writing skills to facilitate communication and integration.
3. "McDonald's Programs for Language Competence and Independent Skills in collaboration with Erada Charitable Association" to support 80 children with Down syndrome in the Eastern Region, with 378,121 Saudi Riyals allocated. These programs aim to develop linguistic and articulatory skills in expressive language and impart self-care skills to children with Down syndrome.
His Highness Prince Mishal bin Fahd Al Saud, the General Manager of the company, commented on this initiative, saying, "We are always proud to launch initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of our children with Down syndrome and their families. This reflects our ongoing commitment to support associations dedicated to training, rehabilitation, and entertainment for individuals with Down syndrome. We always aspire to strengthen a society where everyone can achieve their full potential."
It is noteworthy that this initiative falls under McDonald's Saudi Arabia, fully owned and operated by Riyadh International Food Company, the exclusive agent for McDonald's restaurants in the central, eastern, and northern regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
