Terms & Conditions for McDonald’s Online Services
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY.

Updated May 2024.

These Terms of Use (hereinafter the “Terms”) apply to the websites of Food Folk Suomi Oy, including the website at www.mcdonalds.fi, as well as other electronic services of Food Folk Suomi Oy, such as the McDonald’s application and Facebook page (hereinafter the “Site” or “Sites”), regardless of the device used to access the Sites.

By using a Site, the user (hereinafter the “User”) agrees to comply with these Terms. The Sites may also contain service-specific or feature-specific terms and conditions that apply to the User’s activities in addition to these Terms if the User uses such services or features. If the User does not accept the Terms, the User may not use the Sites. If any provision of the Terms is found to be contrary to mandatory legislation, the closest applicable mandatory legislation shall apply to that provision, while the remainder of the Terms shall remain in full force and effect.

When visiting websites of other companies belonging to the same group of companies or economic association as Food Folk Suomi Oy (such as www.mcdonalds.com), or when using electronic services offered by such companies, the User is required to comply with the separate terms and conditions applicable to those websites or services.

USE OF THE SITES

The Sites and all materials contained therein (e.g., images, text, graphics, and software) are the property of Food Folk Suomi Oy, companies belonging to the same group of companies, or companies belonging to the same economic association (hereinafter collectively referred to as “McDonald’s”), and may not, in whole or in part, be uploaded to a server, reproduced, copied, distributed, disseminated, transmitted, publicly displayed, or otherwise published, either in their original or modified form, without the prior written consent of Food Folk Suomi Oy.

Notwithstanding the above, the User may use the Sites and their content for personal, non-commercial purposes only, such as viewing and reading the Sites and materials, printing a copy, or downloading a copy to the User’s own device, provided that the User does not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.

Modifying the Sites or their content, or using them for any other purpose, constitutes an infringement of McDonald’s intellectual property rights. The Sites and their content are made available to the User solely for lawful purposes. McDonald’s grants the User no rights to the Sites or their content other than the limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right of use described above.

The use of the Sites and their content for commercial purposes is expressly prohibited. Ownership rights and intellectual property rights do not transfer to the User but remain with McDonald’s and its contractual partners.

Changes and Updates to the Terms

McDonald’s may at any time (with or without notice) update, modify, or discontinue the Wi-Fi or online services (or your access to them), including by updating (or removing features or access to) any McDonald’s online service that you have installed on your device.

When you use Wi‑Fi and online services that are not linked to a user account (for example, mcdonalds.fi on desktop or mobile), the terms in force at the time are available for review and acceptance before using the services. Changes will therefore not be announced in advance. The terms applicable to your use of Wi‑Fi, online services, and your orders are those available on the mcdonalds.fi website at the time you use the Wi‑Fi and/or online services.

When you use online services for which you have a user account and have accepted the terms when creating that account (for example, the McDonald’s Finland app or a loyalty program), McDonald’s may amend these terms. The current terms are available in the relevant application and on the mcdonalds.fi website.

McDonald’s may make minor changes (such as wording and structural changes) or other changes that are beneficial to you without prior notice. McDonald’s may make changes that are detrimental to you if necessary for our business operations (for example, a decision to change services or loyalty program terms, including rewards, points, and offers), due to increased costs, or to comply with applicable legislation, including administrative practices and regulatory guidance.

If the terms are changed to your detriment, you must either:

i) actively accept the amended terms; or

ii) receive notice of the change one month before it takes effect.

The notice will be sent to the email address you provided when creating your account.

If you do not accept the amended terms, you must immediately, or before they take effect (where notice has been provided), stop using the Wi‑Fi and/or online services and request that McDonald’s close any online service account you may have. To close your account, go to the login page and select "Delete Account". Alternatively, you may contact us here and provide the email address of the account to be deleted.

We reserve the right to block access to a user account without prior notice if the user breaches one or more provisions of these terms.

These terms are severable. If any provision is found to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions, which shall remain in full force and effect.

Which smartphones support the application?

The application may be used on devices running iOS and Android mobile operating systems. Version compatibility can be checked in either the App Store or Play Store, depending on the device used.

For security reasons, McDonald’s does not support all older operating system versions. When the application is used with other smartphone operating systems, we cannot guarantee its functionality.

FUNCTIONS REQUIRING REGISTRATION

Some features, functions, or sections of the Sites require User registration. In such cases, the User must provide accurate and up-to-date information about themselves.

Alternatively, the User may register using credentials from a social media service (e.g., Facebook credentials), where this option is indicated as available. In such cases, the User grants Food Folk Suomi Oy the right to process information about the User that is available through the relevant social media service.

The User is obligated to notify Food Folk Suomi Oy of any changes to their information. If features, functions, or sections of the Sites that require registration are subject to a fee, this will be separately indicated in connection with the relevant feature, function, or section. However, the User is always responsible, without separate notice, for any data transfer costs associated with using the Sites or their features, functions, or sections.

Upon registration, the User will be provided with a personal McDonald’s ID account, for which the User must choose a password. The User undertakes to keep the password confidential and not disclose it to third parties. The User is responsible for all activities carried out using the User’s credentials. If the User suspects that their password has been disclosed to third parties, the User must immediately notify Food Folk Suomi Oy.

Food Folk Suomi Oy reserves the right to close the User’s McDonald’s ID account at any time for a justified reason at its discretion. The account may be closed, for example, where McDonald’s suspects misuse of the account or where the User’s inactivity reasonably suggests that they have ceased using the account.

In addition to these Terms, features, functions, or sections requiring registration may have their own specific terms and conditions, which the User must accept in order to use them. If the User breaches these Terms or any specific terms, Food Folk Suomi Oy has the right to suspend or terminate access to the McDonald’s ID account.

McDonald’s further reserves the right to discontinue any feature, function, or section requiring registration at any time without prior notice and without liability to compensate the User.

CONTENT SUBMITTED BY THE USER THROUGH THE SITES

When providing personal data to Food Folk Suomi Oy through the Sites, the User must provide accurate and up-to-date information and notify Food Folk Suomi Oy of any changes to such information.

The User agrees not to transmit through the Sites any offensive, threatening, obscene, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful or improper information or content. The User is responsible for ensuring that the information or content does not cause disruption or damage to McDonald’s or third parties (for example, by containing computer viruses or features intended to disable or otherwise damage software, hardware, data, or similar systems). McDonald’s reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove from the Sites any information provided by the User or any content produced or submitted by the User.

The User must not submit or transmit through the Sites any information or content that is confidential or for which the User does not have unrestricted rights, including the right to transmit such information or content to McDonald’s for publication or distribution, in whole or in part, on the Sites without compensation, and the right to assign to Food Folk Suomi Oy the rights relating to the content described below. The User agrees that information or content submitted through the Sites will not be treated as confidential and understands that McDonald’s may, among other things, utilize ideas created by the User in its own business operations and those of its partners. McDonald’s undertakes no obligation to store or return content it receives.

Food Folk Suomi Oy shall acquire all transferable rights relating to content created, published, submitted, or transmitted by the User through the Sites (such as photographs, videos, texts, graphics, and other content), including ownership rights, copyrights, and rights to sublicense and modify such content. Accordingly, McDonald’s shall have, among other things, an unrestricted right to use content submitted by the User in its business operations, including marketing and communications, in any media of its choosing, as well as in McDonald’s products and product packaging, and to grant its partners the rights necessary for the aforementioned purposes. No compensation shall be paid to the User who created or submitted the content, or to any other parties associated with the content, for the transfer of rights or the use of the content. The User agrees not to make any claims based on content submitted or transmitted through the Sites.

McDonald’s does not review content submitted or transmitted by the User through the Sites and assumes no responsibility for such content. The User is responsible for all content submitted through the Sites, including ensuring that the content does not infringe the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of third parties. The User releases McDonald’s from all liability arising from claims made by third parties relating to content submitted by the User.

PERSONAL DATA

The User may provide personal data to Food Folk Suomi Oy through the Sites. Information may also be collected through cookies or other similar technologies. Food Folk Suomi Oy processes personal data collected through the Sites in the manner permitted and required by applicable personal data legislation in force from time to time, acting as the controller of the relevant personal data files.

Food Folk Suomi Oy strives in every way to respect its customers’ trust in its brand and takes the protection of users’ privacy seriously. Food Folk Suomi Oy is committed to safeguarding the personal data of customers, and especially children, when the Sites are used.

Food Folk Suomi Oy will gladly provide further information regarding the processing of personal data. More detailed information on the processing of customers’ personal data can be found in the privacy notice.

COOKIES

Food Folk Suomi Oy may use cookies or other similar technologies on its Sites to collect information related to the User’s device. A cookie is generally a small text file stored on the User’s device through the Sites and used to recognize the device.

In addition to cookies sent by Food Folk Suomi Oy and its partners, cookies placed by third parties, such as analytics and tracking service providers, may also be stored on the User’s device when the User visits the Sites.

Cookies may be used to collect information about the User’s device, such as the browser used by the User, when and which Sites and sections of the Sites the User has viewed, the web address from which the User arrived at the Sites, the web address to which the User moved after leaving the Sites, and the duration of the visit. Information obtained through cookies is generally anonymous in nature, but it may be combined with personal data obtained from the User.

Cookies enable monitoring of Site traffic and the collection and analysis of other data relating to the use of the Sites. In this way, Food Folk Suomi Oy seeks, among other things, to improve the user experience of the Sites and provide better service to Users. In addition, Food Folk Suomi Oy may use information obtained through cookies to provide the User with more personalized and targeted content and online advertising.

To reach Users who are most likely to be interested in McDonald’s products and services, Food Folk Suomi Oy may use cookies to target online advertising on third-party websites managed or maintained by others and visited by the User. In such cases, McDonald’s advertisements may be shown to the User if, based on the User’s previous browsing behavior, the User is assumed to be interested in them.

Information concerning the User’s browsing behavior on websites outside the Sites may also be used. Such information may be obtained, for example, through cookies or similar technologies used by Food Folk Suomi Oy’s partners specializing in online advertising technology.

In addition, cookies or similar technologies of Food Folk Suomi Oy or its partners may be used to collect information regarding the effectiveness of online advertising, such as which advertisements have been displayed in the User’s browser, how many times an advertisement has been shown, and what actions the User has taken after viewing the advertisement.

The User may manage the extent to which cookies may be stored on the User’s device by changing browser settings and may even entirely prevent the use of cookies if desired. However, deleting cookies or preventing their use may adversely affect or even prevent the use of the Sites or certain Site functions.

If the User does not wish to receive interest-based advertising, the User may manage or completely prevent online advertising targeting at http://www.youronlinechoices.com/fi/omat-mainokset. Preventing targeting does not mean that the User will no longer receive online advertising. Advertising may still be displayed just as frequently as before, but the advertisements shown will not be based on the User’s likely interests.

LOCATION DATA

The use of certain services, features, functions, benefits, or offers available through the Sites may require the processing of location data. To make use of such functions, benefits, or offers, the User must agree that Food Folk Suomi Oy may process the User’s location data to the extent necessary for providing and enabling the use of such functions, benefits, or offers.

Food Folk Suomi Oy will not process location data for purposes other than those specified and consented to by the User, after which the location data will be deleted. Location data will not be disclosed to third parties.

BEACON DEVICES

We may send push notifications to Users who have the McDonald’s Finland mobile application installed on their phone and have enabled push notifications for the application. This functionality requires Bluetooth to be enabled.

Push notifications are triggered by physical proximity to a beacon device. Information transmitted by the device is processed solely for the purpose of sending the push notification and is not disclosed to third parties. The data is deleted after processing.

The Sites may contain downloadable materials and links to external websites that are not under the control of McDonald’s. McDonald’s is not responsible for the content of such downloadable materials or external websites.

The User understands that McDonald’s cannot guarantee or warrant the security of such downloadable materials or external websites, including that files or software available for download from the Sites, from any source whatsoever, are free from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other harmful or destructive code or defects.

SUBMITTING ORDERS TO RESTAURANTS

These terms apply to all orders placed through the McDonald’s app. Please read these terms before sending orders to restaurants through the McDonald’s app. For additional information about ordering, see the FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions section.

Ordering

The purpose of orders placed through the McDonald’s app is to provide customers with a convenient way to place a product order in advance and submit it to a participating restaurant.

To place an order through the McDonald’s app, you must first download the app and register. The information required for registration includes your first name, last name, and email address.

Registering a Payment Method

Before submitting an order, you must register either a credit card or debit card as a "payment card" to be used for your orders.

McDonald’s franchisees, as restaurant operators, use third-party service providers to securely store your payment card details and process payments made to restaurants. You understand and agree that once you register your payment card, the restaurants or their third-party service providers may verify that the registered payment card is valid.

You further understand and agree that when you place an order from a restaurant, that restaurant will charge your payment card. In addition to your order code, restaurants may require other information to verify your purchase.

You confirm and warrant that you are of sufficient age and otherwise legally entitled to use the payment card you register.

Purchasing Products Directly from Restaurants

When using the ordering service, you submit your order directly to your selected restaurant, and the agreement for the purchase of products is entered into between you and the restaurant accepting your order.

The restaurant from which you collect your products is responsible for preparing and providing the products to you. You further understand and agree that you are purchasing directly from the relevant restaurant (and not from McDonald’s Corporation or any other McDonald’s group company), and that neither McDonald’s Corporation nor any other McDonald’s group company is responsible for products ordered from restaurants.

Placing, Paying for, and Sending an Order to a Restaurant

You may order products by submitting your order to the restaurant of your choice.

You make the purchase and your payment card is charged when you select “Pay Now” in the McDonald’s app. You will receive an order code. Orders must be collected in person from the selected restaurant.

Products Available Through the McDonald’s App / Ordering Options

Availability of products ordered through the McDonald’s app may vary between restaurants.

After selecting the restaurant from which you wish to order, you will see the menu available for that daypart at the selected restaurant. Once you select collection from the counter or drive-thru, you will see the service hours available for that option (for example, 06:00–00:00).

If you arrive at the restaurant after it has closed, you will not be able to collect your order, and your payment will not be refunded. Therefore, please ensure before confirming and paying for your order that you will be able to collect it on time.

If you choose collection from the counter, you will receive an estimate of how many minutes it will take to prepare your order. Once you have confirmed and paid, your order will begin to be prepared.

If location services are enabled on your device and you are far from the restaurant, you will be asked to confirm that you are ready to pay and have your order prepared. If location services are not enabled, your order will begin to be prepared immediately after payment. Please ensure that you are able to arrive in good time.

If you choose drive-thru collection, you confirm and pay for the order immediately, but your order will not begin to be prepared until you arrive at the drive-thru and provide your order number.

If you choose drive-thru collection and arrive after a menu changeover time (for example, breakfast/lunch), or if one of the products you ordered is no longer available, please discuss the matter with restaurant staff.

If you choose curbside pickup or table service collection, you must enter your parking space number or table number in the McDonald’s app before you can pay. Your order will begin to be prepared once you have confirmed and paid.

When the order is ready, restaurant staff will bring it either to your parking space or directly to your table, depending on the option selected.

Some restaurants do not sell all products. Images of products and their packaging displayed in the McDonald’s app are for illustrative purposes only and may not be identical to the products and packaging you receive from the restaurant. Differences may result from your device’s color display or factors such as ingredients used, supplier, region, and season.

Prices for Orders

Each restaurant independently determines its own prices and applies taxes and fees required by law.

Certain benefits and prices may not be available for all orders in all regions. If you notice an error in the price charged for a product, please contact the restaurant from which you purchased the product.

Location Services

If you are far from the restaurant when placing and paying for an order, you may be required to allow your location to be shared and verified on your device in order to use automatic nearest-restaurant selection.

If you have not enabled location services, or if you do not wish to order from the nearest restaurant, you must manually choose the restaurant from which you wish to order.

Paying for an Order

When you select “Pay Now”, you authorize the restaurant to process your order.

The restaurant’s payment service provider processes your payment and charges the payment card selected when placing the order. You may receive a notification indicating that the restaurant has accepted and is preparing your order. Ownership of the products passes to you once you have collected them.

What if I Have a Payment Issue or Want a Refund?

Please contact your bank if you have any questions regarding charges shown on your card statement or if you believe that a charge made by a restaurant to your payment card is incorrect.

Your bank will be able to advise you regarding its procedures and processes for reversing authorization holds.

What Should I Do If I Suspect Fraudulent Activity on My Account?

If you suspect that unauthorized or incorrect charges have been made to your account, contact your bank immediately.

You should also immediately update your password. Security experts recommend using sufficiently complex passwords and using a different username and password combination for each account.

Redeeming a Deal

You may redeem a benefit by placing an order:

  • Using the online services on your device; or
  • By scanning the QR benefit code at the counter or kiosk; or
  • By reading aloud the alphanumeric code to the staff member taking your order at the drive-thru, or by scanning the QR code.

Earning points. You earn points on qualifying purchases at the rate of EUR 1 = 10 points

You earn points on qualifying purchases when placing an order at a restaurant participating in the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program:

  • Using the online services on your device; or
  • By scanning your digital loyalty card at the counter or kiosk; or
  • By reading aloud the alphanumeric code to the staff member taking your order at the drive-thru, or by scanning the QR code.

If you do not follow one of the above procedures when making your purchase, you will not earn points and will not be entitled to claim points afterward.

There may be a delay before points are added to your MyMcDonald’s Rewards account.

Bonus campaigns or Deals. McDonald’s may from time to time offer bonus campaigns or points-related benefits that enable you to earn points in new and different ways.

Additional information about bonus campaigns or benefits will be provided in connection with each such campaign or benefit.

Certain bonus campaigns require participants to be at least 18 years of age.

Maximum number of points. Your MyMcDonald’s Rewards account may contain a maximum of 9,999 points at any given time (the "Points Cap").

If a qualifying purchase would result in the Points Cap being exceeded, you will not earn points beyond the Points Cap.

Redeeming Points. You may use your points at restaurants participating in the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program to receive products included in the rewards menu (the "Reward(s)") free of charge or at a discount.

You must use the McDonald’s app to convert your points into Rewards available in the Rewards Menu.

You redeem Rewards by placing an order:

  • Using the online services on your device; or
  • By scanning the QR reward code at the counter or kiosk; or
  • By reading aloud the alphanumeric code to the staff member taking your order at the drive-thru, or by scanning the QR code.

Rewards Menu. The reward products and the number of points required for each reward product are displayed in the Rewards Menu available in the McDonald’s app.

Expiration of Points. Points are valid for one year and expire at the end of the calendar month in which one year has passed since the points were earned.

Refunds

The Organizer and the restaurants have the right to deduct points whenever products are returned for any reason and the purchase price is refunded in whole or in part.

This also applies to exchanges of products unless the exchanged products entitle the customer to the same number of points.

Suspicious Activity

The Organizer has the right to take any measures it deems necessary, including deleting or suspending your MyMcDonald’s Rewards account and any accumulated points, if any suspicious activity is detected in connection with your MyMcDonald’s Rewards account, including:

(i) engaging in unlawful or fraudulent activity;

(ii) providing, attempting to provide, or causing the provision of false or misleading information, or otherwise misleading the Organizer or a restaurant;

(iii) selling, assigning, transferring, acquiring, or offering to sell, assign, transfer, or acquire any Reward, benefit, or points in a manner not permitted under these terms; or

(iv) receiving excessive benefits, products, points, or discounts through fraud or other improper means.

Miscellaneous

Points have no cash value.

Points may not be transferred.

General Provisions

You may have only one MyMcDonald’s Rewards account at a time.

It is your responsibility to update any changes to your name, email address, and other personal information as soon as possible after such changes occur. The Organizer shall not be responsible if a customer fails to update their information in accordance with this provision.

The Organizer reserves the right to discontinue the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program if it can no longer maintain the program for reasons beyond its control.

The Organizer reserves the right to refuse to accept coupons or points if it reasonably suspects that they have been forged or falsified.

A MyMcDonald’s Rewards account will automatically terminate upon the death of the account holder. Any earned points and/or loyalty rewards that have not yet been used will be cancelled. The Organizer will close the MyMcDonald’s Rewards account upon receiving notice of the account holder’s death. The Organizer shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by any person as a result of such cancellation.

The Organizer shall retain ownership of, including all intellectual property rights in, all materials and advertising relating to promotional coupons and/or the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program.

By participating in the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program, you accept these terms and their interpretation under Finnish law.

You acknowledge that the following actions do not constitute proper use of coupons and/or participation in the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program:

  • Any purchase, sale, offer for sale, donation, or other activity relating to the McDonald’s app, coupons, and/or points other than as expressly permitted under these terms, including transactions through third parties such as eBay;
  • Any use of McDonald’s advertising, or any part, feature, or related intellectual property thereof, other than as expressly permitted under these terms; and
  • Any violation of these terms.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

The Organizer has the right, at its sole discretion, to decline to enter into correspondence except where otherwise required under these terms.

All instructions and terms relating to advertising or promotional materials connected with the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program form part of these terms. However, if the instructions or terms contained in advertising or promotional materials conflict with these terms, these terms shall prevail.

Defined terms used in these terms shall, where the context permits, have the same meaning in such other instructions and terms.

You may terminate your MyMcDonald’s Rewards account at any time by selecting “Close Account” in your profile within the app.

Following confirmation of account closure, all accumulated benefits, points, stamps, and/or coupons associated with your account will expire immediately.

For this reason, the Organizer recommends that MyMcDonald’s Rewards account holders carefully plan account closure to avoid unintentionally losing accumulated points.

Once points have expired, they cannot be reinstated.

Products Are Purchased Directly from Restaurants. When using benefits, you redeem them directly at the participating restaurant, and the contract for the purchase of products is entered into between you and the restaurant accepting your order (and not with McDonald’s Corporation or any other McDonald’s group company).

The restaurant from which you collect your products is responsible for preparing and providing the products to you.

YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT YOU PURCHASE PRODUCTS DIRECTLY FROM THE RESTAURANTS (AND NOT FROM McDONALD’S CORPORATION OR ANY OTHER McDONALD’S GROUP COMPANY), AND THAT McDONALD’S CORPORATION AND OTHER McDONALD’S GROUP COMPANIES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM RESTAURANTS THAT OFFER ONLINE ORDERING.

Products in the McDonald’s App. The availability of all products depends on availability at the restaurant from which you collect your order.

Order Pricing. Each restaurant independently sets prices for its products and services. Certain offers and prices may not be available for orders in all regions. If you notice an error in the price charged for a product you ordered, please contact the restaurant from which you purchased the product.

Refunds and Consumer Rights. MIf you wish to request a refund for any reason, including dissatisfaction with products or for any other reason, please contact the restaurant from which you purchased the product.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
