McDonald's Saudi Arabia Celebrates The Promotion of 10 Employees with Down Syndrome to Shift Manager Positions

01.09.2025

Thanks to their determination and hard work, McDonald’s Saudi Arabia has promoted 10 employees with Down syndrome—working across its restaurants in the Central, Eastern, and Northern regions of the Kingdom—to the position of Shift Manager. This brings the total number of Down syndrome employees promoted to this role to 19.

These individuals earned their promotions through consistent dedication, professionalism, and outstanding performance over six years of continuous service. McDonald’s proudly celebrates this achievement with them and wishes them continued success.

Since launching this initiative over 19 years ago, McDonald’s has employed more than 140 individuals with Down syndrome in its restaurants and headquarters across the Central, Eastern, and Northern regions. Among them, 19 have become Shift Managers with over six years of experience, and 20 have become Crew Trainers with over three years on the job—demonstrating the success of McDonald’s inclusion and empowerment efforts.

McDonald’s Saudi Arabia is working to increase the number of employees with Down syndrome to 150 by the end of 2025, and to 280 by 2030. The company has signed several agreements with the Ministry of Education in the Riyadh and Qassim regions (Special Education Department) to hire students with Down syndrome, in addition to working with multiple associations focused on their care and integration.

A specialized framework involving five internal departments has been established to oversee the progress of these employees, monitor their job development, and handle periodic reporting. This system ensures continuous evaluation and addresses individual needs in the workplace.

Several initiatives focused on individuals with Down syndrome have been launched by McDonald’s. Details are available at:
