McDonald’s is making big changes to its main menu
- There will be new lighter lunch options on the permanent menu as well as a move towards more sustainable packaging across the range
Mark your diaries for 26th June because McDonald’s UK & Ireland is introducing not two, not three, not even four – but FIVE new permanent items and their varients to its menu. Fans are being treated to a bumper line-up of new and improved recipes – as well as the return of some old favourites, giving customers even more choice.
Not only does the new menu boast choices for customers seeking a lighter lunch but there’s also a revamped breakfast classic and a move towards more sustainable packaging in our salad boxes and McFlurry’s. Here’s a look at the legendary lune-up…
A Great British breakfast institution – our humble Bacon Roll has been overhauled with a new and improved recipe. Featuring three rashers of bacon on a sourdough-style bun with your choice of brown sauce or ketchup. Whether you call it a butty, bap or a barm, the new Bacon Roll is sure to be an instant classic.
Did you know that you can treat yourself to a delicious meal at McDonald’s for under 400 or 600 calories? We’ve revamped our salad and wrap ranges to give our customers even more lighter lunch options, but with the same big bold flavours and quality ingredients.
Our new Chicken Salad gives customers the choice of crispy (265 calories) or our new and improved grilled chicken (133 calories) with a balsamic dressing- ensuring there’s something for everyone – you can even add bacon!
The salads will feature as part of McDonald’s Meals Under offering, making it even easier for customers to make informed choices when eating out. ‘Meals Under’ allows customers to build meals featuring a main, side and drink which achieves either green or amber on the Food Standard Agency traffic light system for fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar and are under either 400 or 600 calories.
Our popular wrap range is expanding too with the new ‘The Hot Cajun Chicken One’ being welcomed to our range – this time featuring crispy chicken breast strips or grilled chicken with a Cajun sauce, Pepper Jack cheese, tomato, jalapeno slices and lettuce in a soft, toasted tortilla wrap.
As well as our lighter lunch options, we’re also going lighter on packaging too – removing all single-use plastic from our salad ranges. All main meal and side salads will now be served in 100% sustainable and renewable cardboard containers, changing out the existing plastic bowl shaker salad cups and lids which will result in 485 metric tons of plastic removed annually.
The public has spoken, and we have listened. Back by popular demand, we are proud to announce the return of the Smarties McFlurry to our full-time offering. Made with vanilla ice cream, crushed Smarties and chocolate sauce – the iconic flavour will now sit alongside Maltesers and Oreo on the permanent McFlurry menu. We will also be removing the plastic from our McFlurry packaging, swapping the plastic lid which will remove 383 metric tons of plastic annually.
