After a six-year hiatus, the popular sweet treat returns to participating restaurant menus nationwide

Attention all SMARTIES® fans: the McDonald’s Canada vault has officially opened up to bring back the one and only SMARTIES® McFlurry®. When the flavour was discontinued in 2015, there was a national outcry on social media, sparking not one, but two online petitions advocating for its return. Well, the wait is now over! Available today, the SMARTIES® McFlurry returns to participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.

“The McFlurry is a Canadian icon,” said Jeff Anderson, Senior Manager, Culinary Innovation, McDonald’s Canada. “It was invented in Bathurst, NB in 1995 and we are so proud to bring back the SMARTIES® McFlurry so Canadians can enjoy their favourite treat once again.”

The SMARTIES® McFlurry will be offered in addition to the existing SKOR and OREO® flavours. Made with creamy vanilla soft serve, the cold treat features crushed SMARTIES® with 100% natural colours and flavours. Those who like their soft serve a little more chocolate-y can even add some hot fudge topping to the mix.

“SMARTIES® has been a beloved brand of Canadians for so many generations,” said Frédéric Baur, President, Nestlé Professional, Nestlé Canada. “We’re thrilled to join forces with McDonald’s to bring the SMARTIES® McFlurry back on the menu, just in time for Canadians to enjoy this summer.”

Canadians can enjoy the SMARTIES® McFlurry in-restaurant for pickup or Drive-Thru, through mobile ordering on the McDonald’s app and with McDelivery® via SkipTheDishes, Uber Eats and DoorDash.
