We believe that football should be a sport for everyone, regardless of experience or skill level. We are working hard with our partners to ensure our Fun Football Sessions, Festivals and Activities are becoming ever more inclusive so every child aged 5-11 can get involved in the programme in some way. We are working with a number of exciting partners including UKFA’s, British Blind Sport, Children in Need, England Futsal and Kick it Out, increasing the reach and accessibility of our free Fun Football opportunities.

Impact Stories

Pippa’s Mum

Pippa is really happy with the sessions because she feels like she belongs. She's been trying to find a sport to play that she fits into, as she isn't SEN - it's purely a physical disability. So, she's really enjoying it here.

Radcliffe Deaf FC

One child, aged 5, came to the first session completely withdrawn. By the end of their first session, they were interacting with the coaches and thanking them, whilst also sharing that they would like to play for the first team! These sessions have created a community, and built confidence and joy. The response from parents and children alike showed just how vital this space is.

Oisin’s Parent

We saw this an ideal opportunity to continue his growing enthusiasm for football and it didn’t disappoint. He took on board the coaching points weekly and couldn’t wait to go back each week. Although it was 4 weeks, the fun and inclusive environment has helped him grow in confidence at his club as a result.

Eric and Will’s Story

Over the duration of the four-week programme, both Eric and Will demonstrated a remarkable increase in confidence and engagement. They actively participated in all sessions and became noticeably more comfortable within the environment and with the coaching staff and volunteers, with both now joining local clubs. This story underscores the valuable impact of the Fun Football programme in fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and builds confidence, ultimately facilitating pathways to grassroots football.

Our Coaches

All McDonald’s Fun Football Coaches are a minimum Level 1 FA or equivalent qualified. We work with our partners to upskill our coaches in various DEI competencies. Back in February 2025, over 100 Fun Football coaches attended the second education development day to partake in practical and theory sessions, led by UK Deaf Sport, Kick It Out, and Access Sport, covering how to tackle unconscious bias and adapting sessions for neurodiverse children and those with hearing impairments.

Our Partners

Children in Need

BBC Children in Need believe every child deserves the chance to thrive, and together, we can make this happen.  CiN partner with sectors to help create lasting change for young people so they can go on to be the best they can be by offering  the right support, to the right place, at the right time. CiN and Fun Football ensure our sessions are growing into areas where they are needed most, so every child gets a chance to get involved in the game they love.

Kick it Out

Kick it Out was set up to fight racism in football in 1993. In 1997 they expanded to tackle all forms of discrimination. This is achieved through raising awareness, confronting issues, running education programmes for academy players, parents and fans. Kick it Out campaigns to make sure football is always welcoming. They support Fun Football to upskill it’s coaches to make them better able to identify address discrimination and to educate parents and children.
