Media Statement: Fort McMurray Wildfire Relief Efforts

McDonald's Restaurant

05-10-2016

TORONTO, ON (May 10, 2016) - McDonald’s Canada and its franchisees share the concern of everyone across the country for those who have been affected by the devastating wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

The spirit of giving back in times of such great need is alive and strong.  To help with relief efforts, McDonald’s Canada has made a corporate donation to the Canadian Red Cross, and our coffee truck is serving water and brewed coffee to evacuees and relief workers. Many restaurants across the country are accepting donations in support of the Alberta Fires Appeal, with many restaurants and franchisees in Edmonton providing food and beverages to relief workers, shelters and evacuees.

In an effort to raise further funds for the relief effort, this Friday May 13 through Sunday May 15, McDonald’s Canada and its franchisees are holding an “Every Big Mac supports Fort Mac” national fundraising initiative. We’re donating $1 from every Big Mac® purchased in every one of our Canadian restaurants over the three days to the Canadian Red Cross.
