Picking the perfect variety

We use varieties such as Pentland Dell, Russet Burbank, Ivory Russet, Innovator and Shepody potatoes which all make our world-famous fries. And as they’re bigger spuds, it means the fries we cut from them are long enough for you to nibble and dip.

How do we make our delicious fries?

We simply wash, peel, cut and prepare the potatoes before cooking. We then cook them in a blend of  rapeseed oil, adding a pinch of salt before serving.

Investing in sustainability

But delicious fries are much more than just great potatoes – it’s our farmers that really make them special. Each and every one of the farmers is approved by a recognised farm assurance scheme, such as Red Tractor. We work with our suppliers through the McDonald’s Sustainable Potato Supply group. And we’ve introduced the Sustainable MacFries Fund. Together with McCain, we are investing £1m over two years, to support research and provide grants to British potato farmers to enable them to use new technology to improve the understanding of soil quality and optimise water management.
