Macca’s® in the Community

We like to be an active part of communities across New Zealand.

We believe we’ve got a responsibility to give back to our local communities. Every year we help set up and support sporting, educational, charitable and environmental programmes designed to help a wide range of people and communities.

If you are interested in support for your club or organisation, please read our sponsorship information and apply online to get support.

Supporting local at Fieldays

For the fourth year running, Macca’s is proud to be part of Fieldays. We’re shining a light on the farmers, growers and suppliers who play a big part in bringing Macca’s favourites to life, and sharing how we’re working together toward a more sustainable food future.

We’ll be at Mystery Creek from 11–14 June, so if you’re visiting, don’t forget to stop by for an apple pie or choc soft serve – made with cones and ice cream sourced right here in the mighty Waikato.

Behind every meal we serve, there’s a local story worth telling.

McHappy Day is incoming!

This year is looking more McHappy than ever.

We can’t wait to raise more money for Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®). RMHC New Zealand gives families with a hospitalised child what they need most – each other. In 2023, RMHC New Zealand provided families with 42,206 nights of free accommodation and support at its houses across NZ.

Getting kids on the pitch since forever

Macca's has been the primary sponsor of junior football in New Zealand for 20 years. We help thousands of players, coaches and referees with resources and equipment. Each season we award 150,000 Player of the Day certificates, 15,000 Player of the Day trophies and over the last 7 years have distributed 100,000 balls to clubs throughout the country, all in the hope of inspiring our future Football Ferns® and All Whites®.

Community involvement

McDonald’s® has been an active part of New Zealand communities since 1976, and we are proud of the positive contribution we make. Our restaurants and franchisees play pivotal roles in their local area, and we take our responsibilities seriously to make sure we are a good neighbour and a good corporate citizen wherever we go.

McDonald's Te Tai Tokerau Scholarship

McDonald’s New Zealand established an annual sponsorship programme with AUT University in 1993. One of the longest running private tertiary scholarships in New Zealand, the primary aim of this scholarship was to extend education opportunities to Maori students from the Northland region, who may otherwise find it difficult to pursue a tertiary education. In 2016 the programme was extended to include a scholarship for students from the Gisborne Wairoa area.
