Melanie was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer, McDonald’s USA, in June 2020, having joined McDonald’s in 2017 as Vice President and Global Chief Talent Officer. Melanie is an accomplished business executive who cares deeply about people. Her work fostering an environment for diverse, global talent to thrive has been critical in supporting McDonald’s growth and strategy evolution.
As Chief Talent Officer for McDonald's Corporation, Melanie’s focus was on evaluating the business strategy through a talent lens and enhancing McDonald’s approach to talent management. Her responsibilities included Talent Attraction, Performance Management, Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness.
Melanie has a wealth of experience at the intersection of talent and business strategy in both corporate and consultative roles. She spent 15 years solving business problems through talent in the consumer, retail and marketing sectors at executive search firms Highland Partners, Russell Reynolds Associates and Spencer Stuart. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Melanie spent three years as Chief Human Resources Officer at Milliken & Company, a privately-held, diversified industrial organization where she led a transformation of the Human Resources function and talent agenda.
Melanie is on the board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago Northwest Indiana. She graduated from Duke University with a degree in Political Science. Melanie and her husband have two teenage daughters. Her favorite McDonald’s menu item is a plain sundae with extra peanuts.
